Jo's key interest is in ‘operationalising’ low carbon technologies at different scales and within different sectors of the built environment.

Over the past 17 years research has aimed to provide evidence and understanding as to why low carbon is important from building to urban scale. Jo is particularly interested in stimulating the retrofit of the existing built environment. Research has involved modelling energy use across different sectors of the built environment at an urban scale, investigating tools and frameworks for urban sustainability, retrofitting a social house to 80% carbon reductions, evaluating large scale social retrofit programmes, investigating the impact of the built environment on health and how schools can become more sustainable.

Role in SOLCER

Jo is the Project Manager of Solcer. Her role is to ensure that wherever possible a collaborative approach is taken between the whole Solcer team and with other organisations. Jo has an overview of all aspects of the Solcer project, both technical and administrative, and aims to encourage delivery of Solcer aims, objectives and targets, at all levels. This role will utilise her project management experience from projects such as Retrofit for the Future, FP5 project PETUS and the COST Actions Smarter and LCBE.
